Lestile Tebogo beats Faith Kipyegon & Bayanda Walaza to win African Athlete of the Month award

Botswana sprinter Letsile Tebogo has been crowned the African Athlete of the Month for August 2024, following an overwhelming outpour of votes on the Africa Sports Ventures Group (ASVG) Media WhatsApp platform.

Tebogo emerged as the clear winner, recognized for his historic and exceptional performances on the global track and field stage.

His sensational achievements throughout the month have elevated him to a position of sporting greatness, making him a household name across Africa and beyond.

Representing Botswana with pride, Tebogo etched his name into the history books by winning Africa’s first-ever men’s sprint gold medal in the 200 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

In a breathtaking performance, the young sprinter not only defeated U.S. sprint star Noah Lyles but also set a new African record with an astounding time of 19.46 seconds.

But Tebogo’s dominance did not stop there as he continued to showcase his world-class abilities in the prestigious Diamond League Circuit, securing victories in the 200 meters in Lausanne and Silesia, and winning the 100 meters in Rome.
