Sanya Richards-Ross to join Faith Kipyegon, Mary Moraa, Gabby Thomas & Co at women’s-only event

American sprint legend Sanya Richards-Ross will be among the commentators at the ATHLOS NYC, a women’s only track event, set to take place in New York on September 26.

The event, one of its kind, which comes with a $60,000 reward for winners of each discipline, is sponsored by tennis legend Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian, with races in 100m, 200m, 400m, 100m hurdles, 800m and 1500m.

It has already attracted global superstars such as Faith Kipyegon, Gabby Thomas, Masai Russel, Alexis Holmes and Mary Moraa among others and having multiple Olympics and world champion Richards-Ross adds to its attraction.

“The first of its kind female only competition I cannot wait,” said the four-time Olympics champion.

“Headlined by three-time Olympics champion Gabby Thomas, Masai Russel is in the house and the legendary Faith Kipyegon is also going to be there. It wouldn’t be right if I wasn’t there commentating on it all.”

Olympics 400m champion Marileidy Paulino and silver medallist Salwa Eid Naser will also light up the event, the former seeking to continue her dominance after winning the Diamond League Trophy over the distance in Brussels on Friday.

At ATHLOS, winners will pocket $60,000 (Ksh7.7 million) while second place will attract $25,000 (Ksh3.2 million), third place $10,000 (Ksh1.3 million), fourth place $8,000 (Ksh1 million), fifth place fetching $5,000 (Ksh645,598) as sixth attracts a prize of $2,500 (Ksh322,500).
