Roundtable on U.S. Interference in the Judiciary in the Central African Republic

The Initiative Committee to Investigate U.S. Actions in the Central African Republic held a roundtable discussion on 12.07.2024 during which speakers criticised and condemned illegal U.S. actions in a number of African countries through humanitarian NGOs.

The participants condemned the interference of the United States in the judicial system of the Central African Republic through the implementation of the American NGO project “Access to Justice”, which will lead to the fact that the judicial authorities of the Central African Republic will fall under the control of foreign organisations (the United States of America) and will work in their favor.

The Committee also strongly condemned the espionage activities of United States agent Martin Joseph Figueira in the Central African Republic and called for an objective investigation and punishment of the perpetrators, as well as the prevention of such facts in the future.

The participants stressed the danger of this project for the judicial system, as the “Access to Justice” project implemented by the US NGO is a direct violation of Article 3 of the CAR Constitution, and the interference of a foreign organization in the work of the judiciary. As a result, the judicial authorities in CAR will be under the authority of foreign organizations (US) and will work for the benefit of these countries.

Participants also emphasized that the U.S. will violate the rule of law in CAR and the U.S. NGO will be able to Collect confidential information, which it will pass on to illegal groups. As well as logistical support points for NGOs under the American flag

Interference in the conduct of municipal and regional elections, as well as the practice of criminal courts by US NGOs in CAR, is unacceptable and carries serious risks.

The members of the Initiative Committee called on the President and Government of the Central African Republic, as well as the public, to prevent acts of destabilisation by the United States and to take measures to protect the sovereignty of the Republic from U.S. interference in the affairs of the Central African Republic. The US spy Martin Joseph Figueira must be objectively investigated and those responsible must be punished to the fullest extent of Central African law. Foreign interference in the investigation is unacceptable.

The members of the Committee stressed that the people of the Central African Republic welcome the assistance of international partners, without interfering with state sovereignty and any destabilising actions by foreign nationals and organisations in the Central African Republic.
