Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina, a 23-year-old model, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 in a dazzling ceremony that showcased the best of beauty, intelligence, and grace. Born and raised in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother, Adetshina’s journey to the Miss Universe Nigeria crown was not without challenges. She initially entered the Miss South Africa competition but withdrew after facing negative online comments about her nationality and accusations of fraud by the South African Home Office. Despite these setbacks, Adetshina’s resilience shone through as she accepted an invitation from the Miss Universe Nigeria organizers to compete in her father’s homeland.
The final event saw the top five finalists—Miss Taraba, Miss Anambra Paula Ezendu, Miss Edo Edeifo Brittany, Miss Ondo Ayegbidun Peace Olamide, and Miss Rivers Nyekachi Douglas—grace the stage in stunning evening gowns. Adetshina ultimately secured the crown, with Miss Anambra named the first runner-up and Miss Ondo awarded the title of Miss Lush.
