Lawyer and businessman Morara Kebaso is actively seeking support from Kenyans to raise between KSh 838,200 and KSh 1.27 million to advance his accountability activism and civic education initiatives. The funds will be used to purchase a public address system, which he plans to mount on a vehicle to engage large crowds across the country.
Morara has already raised KSh 325,000 and is optimistic that more Kenyans will contribute to this cause. He mentioned that the cost of the sound system ranges from KSh 838,200 for a mid-range setup to KSh 1.27 million for a top-tier system. Despite facing challenges in securing a vehicle, he is considering refurbishing an old Land Rover Defender he owns, which lacks a gearbox.
Morara has garnered significant attention for his viral video series, “Vampire Diaries,” where he highlights government excesses by exposing stalled or incomplete development projects. His work has resonated with many Kenyans, positioning him as a prominent critic of government inefficiencies.
Recently, during an interview on Citizen TV’s JKLive show, Morara claimed that President William Ruto offered him a government position to silence his activism. State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed swiftly refuted this claim, labelling it “a statement of imagination.” The exchange highlighted Morara’s determination to remain independent and continue his advocacy.
Morara’s activism extends beyond social media, with his efforts now reaching even rural communities and remote areas. His recent projects include exposing mismanaged funds in infrastructure projects like the Kipkarren Water Treatment Project and the Kabonyo Fisheries Project, where billions of shillings were allocated but failed to produce tangible results.
