Harambee Stars wonderkid sets ultimate goal after Ksh 25 million move to Swedish giants

Stanley Wilson’s rise in the world of football is nothing short of remarkable. The young midfielder, who recently made a high-profile move from FKF Premier League side Kariobangi Sharks to Swedish giants AIK, is already setting his sights on greatness.

With dreams of winning trophies and etching his name into the history books, Wilson’s journey from the streets of Nairobi to the elite ranks of European football is an inspiring story of talent, determination, and resilience.

At just 18 years old, Wilson’s career took a significant turn when he traveled to Sweden in January for trials with the 2018 Allsvenskan champions.

His performance during the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain impressed the AIK coaches so much that they quickly moved to secure his services for a reported fee of USD 200,000 (approx. Ksh 25.8 million).

The deal is a testament to the potential that AIK sees in the young Kenyan, who now has the opportunity to prove himself on a much bigger stage.

“I am really excited after signing with AIK, and this shows that the hard work I’ve put in, both on and off the pitch, has paid off. Joining AIK is a dream come true, and I’m eager to start this new journey. My dream is to be successful with this club,” Wilson shared as quoted on Capital Sport, his enthusiasm evident as he embarks on this new chapter.

Wilson’s journey has not been without its challenges. Reflecting on his trial period, he candidly spoke about the difficulties he faced adapting to the harsh European winter—a far cry from the more temperate climate of Kenya.

“Adapting to the European weather was one of the biggest challenges. The harsh winter conditions were a major adjustment. It was tough, but with the right guidance and proper gear, I managed to adapt. I focused entirely on my training and avoided going out in the extreme cold. It was a crucial period where every detail mattered,” the teenager explained.

Despite these challenges, Wilson remains undeterred. His experience during the trials has only strengthened his resolve as he prepares to contribute to AIK’s success.

Having joined Kariobangi Sharks last season from Darajani Gogo, where he played as a schoolboy, Wilson’s rapid ascent in football is a testament to his talent and work ethic.

Now, with AIK, Wilson has his sights set on achieving greatness. “My goal is to become one of the best signings AIK has ever made. I want to help the club achieve greatness and make a mark in its history.

“Winning trophies with AIK is a major aspiration of mine, and I believe that with the talent we have in the squad, we can achieve something remarkable together.”
