Letsile Tebogo predicts who will win 100m duel between Mondo Duplantis & Karsten Warholm in Zurich

Reigning Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo has disclosed his favourite to win the 100m duel between Olympic pole vault champion Mondo Duplantis and Olympic 400m hurdles silver medallist Karsten Warholm.

In a post-race interview after claiming the 100m win at the Diamond League Meeting in Rome, the 21-year-old noted that he will be there to watch the race and he hopes Duplantis will claim the win over former Olympic champion Warholm.

He also predicted that Duplantis might pull a 10.5-second race again because the time is his personal best over the 100m. He clocked 10.57 in his final year at a high school in the USA, where he grew up, in 2018.

“I’m definitely going to watch that race because it seems interesting for me to watch but in Silesia, we talked about how they wanted to do it but for us, 100m runners, we told them we wanted them to run side by side,” Tebogo said.

“Team Mondo should be on one side and then on the other side so that we can cheer for our people and keep it rolling. I’m Team Mondo obviously it’s going to be a tough one but I’ll decide when I land in Zurich. He is going to run 10.5 again unless he has been doing a secret workout without doing the pole vault. However, I hope he will go for 10.2 because that will be perfect for him,” he added.

On his part, Warholm last raced the 100m in 2017 as per World Athletics. He clocked a personal best time of 10.49 seconds.

The two world record holders (pole vault and the 400m hurdles) are set to face off at Letzigrund Stadium on Wednesday, September 4, a day before the Diamond League meeting in Zurich.
